Step-by-Step Guide

How to Fill Out the Dominican Republic eTicket

February 10, 2025 · 7 min read

The Dominican Republic's official eTicket portal can be intimidating - especially if you're not comfortable navigating a government website in Spanish under pressure. This guide walks you through every section of the form in plain English, so you know exactly what to expect.

What you'll need before you start

Gather all travelers' passports, your flight information (flight numbers, arrival/departure dates, airports), and your accommodation address in the DR before you begin. Stopping mid-form can cause errors.

Step 1: Create an Account or Log In

The Dominican Republic eTicket portal requires you to register with an email address and password. If you've traveled to the DR before, you may already have an account - try your email address first.

Once logged in, you'll see a dashboard where you can start a new eTicket application. Click the button to begin a new form.

Step 2: Select Entry or Exit

The form asks whether you are entering or exiting the Dominican Republic. For a standard vacation:

  • Select "Entry" for your outbound trip (flying TO the Dominican Republic)
  • Select "Exit" for your return trip (flying FROM the Dominican Republic)
  • If you're traveling as a group, one submission can cover entry and exit for everyone

Step 3: Personal Information

This section asks for the primary traveler's personal details. Fill these out exactly as they appear on your passport:

First Name & Last Name

Use your full legal name - no nicknames. If your passport shows a middle name, include it.

Date of Birth

Format: DD/MM/YYYY. Double-check the year, especially for children whose passports may show a different format.

Nationality

Select from the dropdown - this should match the country that issued your passport.

Gender

Select as shown on your passport.

Marital Status

Select your current marital status. This is required by Dominican immigration.

Occupation

Select the closest match to your current occupation from the dropdown.

Step 4: Passport Information

Have your passport open to the photo page. You'll need:

  • Passport number (usually 8–9 characters, letters and numbers)
  • Country of issue (where the passport was issued, usually your nationality)
  • Passport expiration date - enter carefully, this is a common error source

Step 5: Flight and Travel Details

This is where your flight information is entered. Pull up your booking confirmation and enter:

  • Arrival date (date you land in the Dominican Republic)
  • Departure date (date you leave the Dominican Republic)
  • Arrival flight number (e.g., AA 1234)
  • Departure flight number
  • Arrival airport (Punta Cana = PUJ, Santo Domingo = SDQ, Santiago = STI)
  • Country you are traveling from

Step 6: Accommodation Details

You must provide the address where you will be staying in the Dominican Republic. For hotel stays, enter the hotel's name and address. For private accommodations (Airbnb, family home), enter the full street address.

Step 7: Health and Customs Declaration

The eTicket includes health and customs declarations - this replaced the separate paper forms previously distributed on planes. You'll be asked about:

  • Whether you are carrying cash or monetary instruments over $10,000 USD
  • Whether you are carrying goods beyond personal exemption limits
  • Basic health questions (symptoms, recent travel history)

Step 8: Add Additional Travelers (Optional)

If you are traveling with family or a group, you can add up to 6 additional travelers to the same submission. Each additional traveler requires the same personal, passport, and contact information as the primary traveler.

Step 9: Submit and Save Your QR Code

Once you've reviewed all your information and submitted, the portal will generate a QR code. Save this immediately - take a screenshot and email it to yourself. Do not rely on being able to access the portal again at the airport.

Airlines check for the QR code at check-in and at the departure gate. Dominican customs will scan it upon arrival.

The Most Common Mistakes (and How to Avoid Them)

Entering the wrong passport number

Fix: Read directly from your passport, character by character. Don't type from memory.

Wrong passport expiration date

Fix: Open your passport to the photo page and copy the exact date shown.

Mismatched name

Fix: Use your full legal name exactly as printed on your passport - spaces, hyphens, and all.

Wrong flight number

Fix: Copy from your airline booking confirmation, not from memory.

Completing it too close to departure

Fix: Complete the eTicket at least 48 hours before your flight. The portal can be slow.

Not saving the QR code

Fix: Screenshot and email it to yourself the moment it's generated.
