Dominican Republic eTicket for Families: Everything You Need to Know

January 15, 2025 · 5 min read

Planning a family vacation to the Dominican Republic? The eTicket requirement applies to every single traveler - infants and toddlers included. Here's everything you need to know to get your whole family sorted before you travel.

Do Children Need an eTicket?

Yes - absolutely. The Dominican Republic eTicket is required for all travelers regardless of age, nationality, or the purpose of travel. A newborn flying for the first time needs an eTicket just as much as a 70-year-old retiree.

There are no exemptions based on age. If your child has a passport and a plane ticket, they need an eTicket. Period.

Don't forget the kids

Airlines check eTickets at check-in. If any traveler in your party - including children - is missing a QR code, you may not be allowed to board.

Can Families Submit One eTicket Together?

Yes. The Dominican Republic eTicket system allows families and groups to be submitted together under a single order. When submitted together, everyone on the order shares one QR code. This makes check-in and customs much simpler - you present one code for the whole group.

However, there is a limit: a single submission can cover up to 7 travelers total (the primary traveler plus up to 6 additional people). Larger groups or families need to be split across multiple orders.

What Information Do You Need for Each Child?

For each child, you'll need the same information required for adults:

  • First and last name (as it appears on their passport)
  • Date of birth
  • Nationality
  • Passport number
  • Passport expiration date
  • Country of residence
  • Gender

Make sure you have all of your children's passports handy before you start the form. Entering incorrect passport numbers is one of the most common mistakes families make, and it can cause issues at the airport.

Common Mistakes Families Make

Forgetting to include infants

Even babies under 12 months need an eTicket. They have their own passport, so they need their own entry in the form.

Mismatched names

Enter names exactly as they appear on each traveler's passport - including middle names if printed on the document. A nickname won't match.

Wrong passport expiration date

Children's passports often expire sooner than adult passports (5 years vs. 10 years). Double-check the date carefully.

Waiting until the day of travel

With kids in tow, the last thing you want is to be scrambling with a government website at the airport. Complete the eTicket at least 48 hours before departure.

Tips for a Smooth Family eTicket Experience

  • Gather all passports before starting - don't rely on memory for passport numbers.
  • Complete the form at least 2–3 days before your trip, not the night before.
  • Screenshot or download the QR code immediately - don't rely on airport WiFi.
  • If traveling with a large family (8+ people), split into two separate orders.
  • Consider using a service like eTicketEasy to handle the paperwork for you.
